What is a Screw Extruder?
A screw extruder is the cornerstone of modern plastic processing and recycling. It is a high-precision industrial machine used to continuously melt, homogenize, and convey polymer materials under controlled pressure and temperature. The fundamental output is a melt that is forced through a die plate to create a desired profile, typically pellets in the recycling sector.
For plastic recycling, the extruder's core function is vital: transforming post-industrial or post-consumer waste (like film, rigid plastics, or bottles) into high-quality, reusable granules.

Product Types & Categories: Single vs. Twin Screw Extruder

Advanced PLC controls with HMI interfaces for precise control over throughput, melt temperature, and process automation.
Product Features & Benefits: Why JWELL?
Modular Design
Our twin screw screw elements are modular, allowing quick and cost-effective reconfiguration of the screw profile to adapt to changing material types or additive loads.
Precision Control
Our advanced control systems guarantee consistent melt temperature and pressure, which is critical for maintaining the intrinsic viscosity and quality of the recycled polymer.
Energy Efficiency
Optimized screw geometries and high-efficiency drive systems reduce specific energy consumption, contributing directly to a better ROI.
Wear Resistance
Specialized metallurgy for the barrel and screw components minimizes wear when processing abrasive recycled materials, maximizing uptime.
How It Works: The Extrusion Process
The continuous cycle of plastic recycling extrusion ensures uniform output and high product quality.
1.Pre-conditioning
Recycled material (flaked or agglomerated) is fed into the extruder. For twin screw systems, volumetric or gravimetric feeders ensure stable, consistent material input.
2.Conveying and Melting
The rotating screw(s) transport the plastic forward. Through external heating and internal friction (shear), the material melts and compresses.
3.Mixing and Homogenization
In a single screw extruder, this is primarily achieved through shear. In a twin screw system, intermeshing elements provide intensive distributive and dispersive mixing to ensure a homogeneous melt.
4.Filtration and Pressurization
The molten polymer passes through a screen changer to filter out contaminants (paper, metal) and builds the necessary pressure to pass through the die plate.
5.Extrusion and Pelletizing
The melt is forced through the die plate openings and immediately cut by underwater or water-ring pelletizers to form uniform pellets.
Applications & Industries: Specialized Recycling Solutions
